Usually, I'll shut my eyes a lot while I'm dancing. So, I try to remember to wear sunglasses when I go out, because otherwise I feel selfconscious about people maybe looking at me while my eyes are closed. A-like is supposed to sound the way I feel when I'm dancing, and everything's as loud as it can get, and it feels so good that I can't keep my eyes open.
Since I don't have any understanding of instruments, writing songs is pretty intuitive. Songs will pop in and out while I'm doing something else, usually walking around; that always seems to be the best pace for singing things over and over. Once I've got some lyrics, I'll try to write something on bass or on aguitar if that's all I can find. Casey puts whatever I've got into his computer and somehow turns it into pop music. Sometimes, I'll get scared while we're recording the vocals, and I'll fuck up, because I don't have much range, but Casey never get's pissed. We just keep trying it till it sounds right.
I'm in Holland right now where my mom lives, but I'm thinking about some new songs. Whenever I get an idea, I'll try to record it on this little tape recorder I have before I forget it. If I don?t record it, I'll forget it almost right away. Casey and I should get to work on something this winter, and he's actually in a real band called VCR, which is worth checking out, especially if you can get to a live show. And if you don't know it yet, Richmond is the best place on earth, so keep your eyes open, because the kids there are actually doing it.
