Kids With Cameras
| |
Born into Brothels is a portrait of several unforgettable children who live in the red light district of Calcutta, where their mothers work as prostitutes. Zana Briski, a New York-based photographer, gives each of the children a camera and teaches them to look at the world with new eyes.

Battle for the Arctic Refuge is Just Beginning
Yesterday a vote passed in the US Senate to allow oil drilling in an Arctic Refuge by 51 to 49. We don't post news about a lot of social issues, but this one is very important. As people who care, we're saddened to see the stance and direction of the current US government. Financial gain has taken precedence over logical thinking for may people. We hope to see this change, but it will take a large effort from everyone. Start by becoming more aware. The water from your sink has to come from somewhere and the trash you throw away has to go somewhere. Be aware!
More info on the vote.

3 Minutes
| |
The Japan Media Arts Festival is taking place right now in Ebisu. 3 Minutes, one of the several winning works, shows us some potential for future image expression. Imagery is projected into an an uneven space, as the story of man and woman, projected by silhouettes, starts unfolding. Be sure to check out some of the other winning works.
